Barry has a professional manner that comes across no matter how he is helping you. During the course of my degree I required his help on many occasions and I felt safe in the knowledge that the advice and supervision was the best that I could ask for.
Barry explains things in such a way that you have no choice but to understand and enjoy the learning experience. Barry is professional, meticulous about detail, patient and precise and is an easy person to learn from.

We enjoyed Barry and Cristina Burns working with us to provide a photo record of our guest hospitality at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in June 2009. 'Barry Burns has been one of the most enthusiastic and supportive people I have met through my work with Hachfest. (Three day charity music event festival).
We engaged with Felixstowe and Deben Radio to help strengthen the festival's community ties and to see how we could all work together.
Barry has been professional throughout, and unbelievably organised, prepared and calm !
In preparation for the event he coordinated a full team of volunteers, even enough to lend me a few! - and arrived ready for anything.
Throughout the weekend Barry's team carried out the majority of comparing and were extremely easy to work with. We have had a number of comments congratulating us on the quality of this year's compares.
Alongside that, the team were recording, videoing and photographing the event, as well as interviewing performers.
Everything ran very smoothly and professionally, and once we had agreed how things would work I was able to leave everything in Barry's hands.
In recent weeks he has helped with post-event PR and feedback also.
Throughout, Barry and his team, have all been extremely friendly and approachable, and have really made an effort to fully embrace the work that Hachfest does, and the spirit of the event.

I first met Barry Burns at a music festival where he taught me a number of things in relation to interviewing, recording and presenting. He demonstrated clearly the process of mixing and recording live music and gave me the opportunity to try out my own skills. Barry discussed various presentation skills and tips and coached me through the experience of audience interaction on stage.
I learnt the importance of preparation and having knowledge of your subject in presentation work. Throughout this experience Barry was reassuring and helped build my confidence.
On three follow up sessions I have learnt many other skills under Barry’s careful tuition.
He takes time to explain technical information so that it is easily understood. I am very pleased to have learnt practical skills on a Denon mixer DN-X1500 and Denon CD players DN-S5000 which was connected up to a Mac computer. He also patiently showed me the hardware part of the equipment for radio designed by
Avid Technology.
Barry taught me many other important skills for the radio including; how to add subtle effects to music, the importance of levels, PFL and cross-fade. This is relevant for broadcasting live on radio or alternatively at an open air event. In addition I was able to experiment with cueing in songs during a live show and panning the music onto different speakers.
Barry taught these skills in a very thorough and well planned way so that I did not become confused, even though we covered a substantial amount of work in a very short space of time. I am very grateful indeed and am looking forward to the next session.
