STEMNET - Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths

Over many years Barry Burns has been involved in teaching and coaching young people as his background is technology related. This encompasses for example radio interference, audio production and media in a broad and diverse range of projects over a 30 year period.

As a STEM Ambassador Barry offers students by way of practical help, a talk or interactive activity regarding Media at careers events, mock interviews, STEM activity days - for example media workshops and helping undertaking a project.

Barry has experience and skills in radio, broadcasting, studio/live sound engineering, media technology, microphone and interview techniques, voiceovers, programme making and video production.

STEMNET creates opportunities to inspire young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). This enables young people to develop their creativity, problem-solving and employability skills, widens their choices and supports the UK’s future competitiveness.

I would like to thank you for your contribution yesterday. The feedback from the students for your session has been very good. They particularly commented on how enthusiastic you were about areas and how you made the sessions interesting. There were many students who wished they'd had the confidence to have mock interviews after the feedback from those who did.

I have received some great feedback from the school and students on your workshops. So once again, thank you so very much for helping out - it is very much appreciated.
