COMMUNITY RADIO

In 2009 more than 8 million people are able to tune into Community Radio stations
reports Ofcom and demand is still high for licenses. Over 200 community stations
are now broadcasting across the UK and demand for licenses remains high.

These not-for-profit radio stations cover small geographical areas and each
typically provides 81 hours of original and distinctive output a week - mostly
locally produced.

Community radio licensing was introduced by Ofcom and the first license was
awarded in March 2005 with the first station launched in that year.

Over the past 10 years I have been actively involved in a number of roles within
community radio and currently involved in the following projects Deben Radio and
Felixstowe Radio.
